Calderys, a provider of refractory products and services for the casting industry, has become an independent company following its acquisition by U.S.-based Platinum Equity. Paris-based Calderys will encompass the full scope of the High Temperature Solutions business area formerly under Imerys. 
Calderys comprises a global network of experts and 36 industrial sites in 16 countries.

A Missouri University of Science and Technology research team was recently awarded a $2 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to research technologies to improve the operating efficiency of electric arc furnaces (EAFs) used for steelmaking.

Pace Industries LLC is investing $2.8 million to expand manufacturing operations at its facility in Jackson, Tennessee. The aluminum, zinc, and magnesium diecasting manufacturer will add 49 new jobs while meeting increased customer demand from a wide range of industries.

AFS Corporate Member Great Lakes Castings (GLC), based in Ludington, Michigan, received $79,785 from the state’s Going PRO Talent Fund. GLC employs 225 people at its gray iron foundry.

Going PRO awarded 54 Northwest Michigan employers a total of $1,700,109 for employee training. 

AFS Corporate Member Le Sueur Inc. (LSI), a supplier of complex and pressure-tight aluminum castings and plastic injection molding components based in Le Sueur, Minnesota, has been acquired by Delos Capital and The Silverfern Group.

AFS Corporate Member General Motors Co. plans to invest $918 million in four U.S. manufacturing sites for V-8 engine production and electric vehicle (EV) components, the company said on January 20, which includes $55 million for casting operations. The announcement brings GM’s U.S.

Dakota Foundry, an Anderson Industries Company located in Webster, South Dakota, has acquired the MAGMASOFT Autonomous Engineering tools to further advance its innovation and support production of complex, high-quality iron castings. 

P&THE Manufacturing LLC, which purchased Ross Aluminum in April, is investing $5.4 million into the plant, reported WHIO TV 7. Ross is an aluminum foundry based in Sidney, Ohio.

“The expansion and revitalization of the Ross plant brings 175 jobs and the newest aluminum casting technology to keep this staple of the region growing and competitive in the global marketplace with talent from Ohio,” said JobsOhio CEO and President J.P. Nauseef.
