Multi-industry components-maker Impro opens Mexico foundry

Impro, Wanchai, Hong Kong—a global components manufacturer serving auto, engine, construction and agriculture equipment, medical and energy markets—will soon open a new sand casting foundry located on almost 68 acres in San Louis Potosi, Mexico.

Two distinct sand casting production lines are to be housed in the 596,837 sq.ft.-facility, one for Shinto automatic green sand molding for castings up to 88 lbs. with an annual capacity of 5,000 tons, and another for KW static pressure green sand molding for castings up to 880 lbs. with an annual capacity of 40,000 tons. In addition to sand casting, the plant will offer heat treatment, painting, secondary machining, and cleaning.

Production lines have been installed, and core technologies include both cold and hot boxes. Equipment brands include ABP induction furnace, a KW automatic pouring machine, and SinterCast technology.

The foundry’s laboratory offers solutions for molding sand inspection, chemical analysis, and casting inspection. It’s equipped with mechanical property inspection and X-ray capabilities.

The company stated its mission is to offer better and more holistic solutions to customers as part of an objective to build a one-stop sand casting solution in North America that includes several value-added services.
