The Casting Industry Suppliers Association (CISA) met for its annual spring conference April 18-20 at the Hilton Beach Resort at Marco Island, Fla.

The theme of the meeting was “Emerging Markets.” Consultant Gary Schine spoke to the group about the latest developments and strategies in mergers and acquisitions. Research analyst George Magliano addressed the overall economic and market environment for North American light vehicle sales of the past and future. Mike Swartzlander, managing director of Cast Strategies LLC, Dublin, Ohio, offered “Incredible India,” a presentation detailing market opportunities in the growing metalcasting powerhouse.

The keynote speaker for the event was David Littman, senior economist with the Mackinac Center for Public Policy, Midland, Mich. Littman spoke about the path the country is on due to the current presidential administration’s fiscal policies and measures that will need to be taken to regain economic stability and growth.
