Released on April 30, 2010

Machining equipment provider Makino announced it has created an R&D center focused on improving the machining of titanium at its Mason, Ohio, facility.

The Global Titanium Research and Development Center is comprised of a group of engineers focused on developing titanium milling technologies. The facility will include state-of-the-art machine tools, specialized titanium machining and tooling experts, and CMM equipment.

“Titanium machining is process driven, meaning the machine tool, cutting tools, machining process and coolants must all be developed and integrated specific to titanium’s material properties,” says Tom Clark, Vice President of Makino.
