Permanent mold aluminum caster Alcast Co., Peoria, Ill., recently was given the Bronze Certification Award by customer Caterpillar, also of Peoria.

Jim Jaszarowski of Caterpillar Global Purchasing presented the award to Allen Kapraun, Alcast’s company quality manager, at the company’s Illinois offices. According to an Alcast press release, the company is the first aluminum metalcasting facility to obtain the certification under the Caterpillar Inc. Supplier Quality Excellence Process.

Jaszarowski also presented Steve Wessels, Alcast president, with a letter from Caterpillar Vice President Dan Murphy congratulating the metalcaster on attaining the certification, which is awarded to plants with “strong values and ethical principles in conducting business and a commitment to collaborate with Caterpillar’s objective to implement a culture for zero defects across the supply base.”
