The worldwide intellectual property (IP) rights of Fata Aluminium, Rivoli, Italy, recently were acquired by Fata Automation Inc., Sterling Heights, Mich.

The purchase, which was made for an undisclosed amount, included all IP rights, assets, trademarks, patents, drawings and designs used by Fata Aluminium worldwide. The company will continue operations under the new name of Fata Aluminium LLC.

“We are now in complete control of over 40 years of Fata Aluminium designs, patents and technology,” said Giorgio Donini, Fata Aluminium LLC’s general manager. “The U.S. is now our headquarters, and we expect to announce a European-based licensee in the near future. Fata Aluminium benefits from the wide and diverse strengths of Fata Automation, with increased capacity to reach new customers, expand its product offerings and support existing clients and equipment.”

Fata Aluminium has a background in metalcasting automation and process control, specializing in casting carousels, piston casting machines, sand regeneration systems and complementary casting equipment. The company’s expertise will be used to enhance Fata Automation’s material handling solutions, which are designed to serve a range of manufacturing facilities.
