Automotive metalcaster Georg Fischer, Schaffhausen, Switzerland, has completed construction of its newest metalcasting facility in Kunshan, China.

The company announced plans to build the new casting plant, which is intended to supply castings to Chinese customers, at GIFA 2007, held June 12-15, 2007. The plant completed its first melt on Dec. 19, 2008, in line with the company’s announced timeline.

Georg Fischer contracted metalcasting engineering firm Gemco, Eindhoven, the Netherlands, to assist it in the project. It anticipates the start of series-production in May.
