Released on January 6, 2009

Citation Corp., Novi, Mich., announced its iron metalcasting facilities in Marion and Selma, Ala., have achieved more than two years without days away, restricted or transferred (DART) incidents.

“To date, these plants [and three machining facilities] have achieved one to three years with no DART incidents,” said Bill Goodin, Citation’s vice president of human resources. “Safety remains one of our top priorities at Citation, and I’d like to acknowledge employees at these facilities for being diligent in helping us maintain these outstanding safety records.”

In addition, Citation’s fiscal year 2008 incidence rates (IR), or the number of recordable injuries and illnesses, at these facilities was below the national average of 13.6 for iron metalcasting facilities. Marion’s IR was 1.12; Selma’s was 3.38.

According to a press release issued by Citation, the company provides ongoing employee safety training as part of its preventable accidents initiative, as well as continuous plant inspections to ensure safe conditions and an ongoing program that keeps all work areas organized and free of hazards.

Citation employs 2,300 employees in Alabama, Texas, Indiana, Michigan, North Carolina and Wisconsin. Citation’s machining facilities in Albion, Ind., Lowell, Mich., and Oconomowoc, Wis., also have achieved notable safety milestones.
