Material testing firm West Penn Testing Group, New Kensington, Pa., recently purchased a new building in Upper Burrell, Pa., to house its spectrochemical testing group and some of its nondestructive testing (NDT) and material evaluation operations.
The building offers about 20,000 sq. ft. of new space, with 9,800 sq. ft. earmarked for spectrochemical testing and up to 11,000 sq. ft. for NDT and material evaluation. The new space also supports the company’s planned staff additions. In the coming year, it will add at least one new degreed technician.
“We have been planning on expanding our spectrochemical testing capabilities for quite some time,” said N. David Campbell, president of the testing group. “The additional space provides us with the opportunity to reconfigure our lab space, which will… allow us to add a scanning electron microscope.”
West Penn Testing Group serves clients in the metalworking industries, among others.
