Yamaha Motor Corp. USA, Cypress, Calif., acquired Precision Propeller Inc., Indianapolis, effective July 18, 2008, and will continue to operate the company under the new name Precision Propeller Industries Inc.

According to a letter issued to Yamaha’s suppliers, the company plans to conduct business as usual at Precision, a marine propeller investment caster and repair shop. Prior to the purchase, Precision was under the private ownership of its founder Jim Booe.

In addition to its motorcycle and recreational vehicle arms, Yamaha operates a marine division that produces outboard engines primarily for recreational watercraft. The company also produces a proprietary line of cast marine propellers.
