Huron Casting Inc., Pigeon, Mich., plans to build a multi-million dollar metalcasting plant known as Blue Diamond Steel Casting in the “thumb” area of Michigan, according to local news reports.

ABC’s Huron County affiliate reported the facility will be supported by state and federal grant money. “We’ll be making steel castings in the range of 500 lbs. to 4,000 lbs., and we’re going to do it in two processes,” Leroy Wurst, Huron Casting president, told ABC12. “November is our goal to start pouring metal.”

Huron Casting produces shell molded steel castings up to 400 lbs. for customers in the material handling, truck and trailer suspension, railroad, military, oil field, off highway equipment, pump and valve, construction and hydraulic cylinder cap markets.

A spokesperson for Huron Casting declined to comment for a story in MODERN CASTING.
