Elyria Foundry Co. LLC, Elyria, Ohio, recently announced in a press release it has acquired Hodge Foundry Co., Greenville, Pa.
According to the release, the companies will continue to operate independently on a day-to-day basis, but the acquisition of Hodge will contribute to Elyria’s capacity as a casting supplier to North American energy industries.
Hodge produces large-sized gray and ductile iron castings primarily for use in power generation, including parts for the wind turbine industry, coal pulverizers for electric power generation and castings for mining and minerals processing. The company specializes in heavy section iron castings from 3,000 to 200,000 lbs. Members of Hodge’s senior management team, including Joe Simko, president and general manager, and Mike Forsha, vice president of operations, will continue to serve the company in their present capacities.
Elyria produces highly-cored gray and ductile iron castings ranging from 50 to 50,000 lbs. The majority of the castings are used in energy end-markets, such as natural gas compression, power generation, wind turbine and mining.
“The acquisition of Hodge Foundry will enable us to expand our presence in those industries,” said the release.
