Summit Foundry Systems to Expand Print E-mail

Released on February 28, 2008

Summit Foundry Systems Inc., New Haven, Ind., soon will begin a $1 million expansion project that will include a building addition and new equipment, according to a company press release.

Richard Meyer, president of Summit Foundry Systems, said the expansion, which will be completed by the end of June, is designed to meet growing demand for the company’s services as engineers and manufacturers of metalcasting automation and material handling systems.

The investment will add approximately 12,000 sq. ft. to the company’s current 18,000-sq.-ft. facility. Along with the building addition, Summit Foundry Systems will be adding approximately $120,000 in new manufacturing equipment.

“We currently do not have enough manufacturing space to meet our customers’ demands,” Meyer said. “This expansion project is necessary so our company can maintain its industry leading position.”

To aid in the project, the New Haven City Council has approved a 10-year phase in of taxes on the real property associated with the expansion and a seven-year phase in of the personal property taxes.

“We are proud to host a home-grown company like Summit Foundry Systems,” New Haven Mayor Terry McDonald said. “We applaud Richard Meyer and his team, and we pledge to continue to do everything possible to keep and grow Summit Foundry Systems in New Haven.”

Summit Foundry Systems currently employs 11, and eight additional workers will be added by 2015.
