Released on February 18, 2008

L A Aluminum Casting Co., Hayden, Idaho, was included in two recently-awarded, multi-million dollar government contracts that increased the metalcaster’s annual sales by 25%.

The two contracts are estimated to be worth more than $400 million over a five-year period. The first is for towable tank fittings used by the military to transport water and fuel. The fittings are positioned at each end of a fuel bladder transported behind a jeep. Each tank carries 3,000-5,000 lbs. of fuel.

The second contract will be fulfilled through a partnership between L A Aluminum Casting and Berg Integrated Systems, Plummer, Idaho. L A Aluminum will cast the metal fittings on Berg’s 210,000-gallon fuel tanks.

“This is excellent work for us,” said marketing manager Michelle Richter. “It suits our core business strategies. We have been making similar castings for over 60 years, and we will be able to easily implement the growth plan we had scheduled for this year.”

L A Aluminum is a permanent mold aluminum facility that makes parts primarily for the OEM market; however, it has a history of making castings for the military, according to a press release issued by the company. The metalcaster specializes in making nut rings, which connect the top of a fuel cell in an airplane with the hose or fitting where fuel is added.
