The nation’s highest presidential honor last was bestowed on five organizations, including a components developer involved in the Casting Emissions Reduction Program (CERP).

The nation’s highest presidential honor last year was bestowed on five organizations, with one of the awards going to a components developer that has been involved in the Casting Emissions Reduction Program (CERP).

President George W. Bush and Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez awarded the U.S. Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC) the 2007 Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award for nonprofit groups in Dec. 2007. The award also went to PRO-TEC Coating Co., Mercy Health System, Sharp HealthCare and the City of Coral Springs.

ARDEC is the research and development center for armaments used by the U.S. Army, Special Operations Command and other organizations. ARDEC develops products to improve the U.S. military’s battlefield proficiency and is composed of five locations, Picatinny Arsenal, N.J.; Watervliet, N.Y.; Rock Island, Ill.; Adelphi, Md.; and Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md.

Picatinny and Rock Island arsenal have been active U.S. Department of Defense partners in CERP.
