Aleris International Inc., Beachwood, Ohio, announced it has completed the sale of its zinc business, which operates under the name U.S. Zinc, to affiliates of Votorantim Metais Ltda. for $295 million, with certain adjustments for working capital and other items.

The metal supply company, which announced the sale last December, will use net proceeds from the divestiture to reduce outstanding debt.

Aleris International is an aluminum recycler and produces specification alloy for a variety of industries. It also manufactures aluminum rolled products and extrusions. The company operates 50 production facilities in North America, Europe, South America and Asia, and employs approximately 8,900.
