Pacific Alloy Castings, South Gate, Calif., recently upgraded its vibrating shakeout system with the installation of a rotary media drum.

The new Mark 5 Series Rotary Media Drum from Didion International Inc., St. Peters, Mo., separates sand from castings, conditions and double screens sand, cleans castings, gates runners and sprues, and cools castings.

“It’s the best labor-saving device I have installed since we stopped shoveling sand 30 years ago, and I’m not exaggerating,” said Jim Leach, president and owner of Pacific Alloy Castings.

According to a Didion press release, the system also reduces airborne silica dust.
