Officials at Ravenna Aluminum Inc., Ravenna, Ohio, would not comment on the future of FSI Group’s metalcasting facility, despite the company’s president telling local reporters in October it would shut down at the end of the year.
In a letter from Kurt Blemaster to government officials, which was obtained by the local Record-Courier, the executive said Ravenna would shut down on Dec. 31 due to economic hardship. Further reports have surfaced indicating that the metalcaster may be close to finding a buyer and maintaining production. However, at the time of writing, those reports could not been substantiated.
“I’m not talking to reporters,” said Jeff Beard, a spokesperson for Ravenna Aluminum.
