Paulo Products Co. announced the addition of two surface treatments at its St. Louis facility.

Paulo-St. Louis now has the capability to perform gas nitriding, as well as corrosion resistant ferritic nitrocarburization.

Gas nitriding is carried out in a sealed retort with an ammonia atmosphere at temperatures at or near 1,000F (538C). Typical cycle times range from 24 hours to 72 hours. Paulo’s gas nitriding capability includes parts up to 48 in. in length.

The corrosion resistant ferritic nitrocarburizing process, used on carbon and alloy steels, incorporates an oxidizing stage that enhances corrosion resistance as well as improving appearance and overall performance. Paulo also is capable of a ferritic nitrocarburizing process performed in a fluid bed.
