Teksid Aluminum, Turin, Italy, announced that consent representing a majority of its shareholders has been received for the sale of its Italian metalcasting operations to Fiat Powertrain, Orbassano, Italy.
The consent is another step in the sale of three Teksid plants, including research and development, semi-permanent mold and lost foam facilities, to Fiat for a nearly $25 million cash consideration and more than $200 million in outstanding shares, which began in late July. It also amended the proposed deal between the two companies to allow the repayment or settlement of certain inter-company obligations.
The move is another in a series of metalcasting sales by Teksid. Nemak, Monterrey, Mexico, completed the acquisition of six production facilities belonging to Teksid in March, including plants in Brazil, Argentina, the U.S. and Mexico. That sale was valued at considerably more than $400 million.
