Intermet Corp., Fort Worth, Texas, announced its Archer Creek Foundry, Lynchburg, Va., and its 385 employees—down from 430 earlier this year—have worked 365 consecutive days without a lost-time injury.
Steve Lake, president of Intermet's Ferrous Division, said the mark was the second safety milestone in the last four months for the plant. In April, the facility marked three consecutive months without recording an injury of any kind.
“Our employees go through extensive safety training, and our safety program stresses employee involvement and reporting of any potential hazardous conditions in the workplace,” said Archer Creek Plant human resources manager Walter Vrobel. “The USW Local Union 8270 and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Lodge No. 10, are directly involved with the safety process at our plant.”
