Siemens Metals Technologies, Österreich, Austria, received an order from Minmetals Steel Co. Ltd., Beijing, China, for the engineering and supply of key equipment and technological packages of a 2-strand slab caster.

The caster, which will be built at Tiantie Hot Rolling Mill Co. Ltd, Shexian, Hebei Province, China, will be capable of casting two million tons of steel per year and is scheduled to start up in July 2008.

The contract value for Siemens is a two-digit million dollar figure.  Tiantie Hot Rolling Mill Co. Ltd, a subsidiary company of Tianjin Tiantie Metallurgical Group, currently casts and rolls approximately two million tons of steel per year. As part of a production-expansion project, the annual casting and rolling capacity is to be increased to four million tons.
