Lufkin Contracts for Sand Reclamation Equipment Print E-mail

Released on Tuesday, July 17, 2007

Lufkin Industries, Lufkin, Texas, contracted Simpson Technologies Corp., Aurora, Ill., to provide a sand reclamation system for its two existing molding lines.

The retrofitting of the existing molding lines with new reclamation equipment will allow Lufkin, which provides commercial gray and ductile iron castings, as well as oil field equipment, power transmission products and highway trailers, to a variety of customers, to reclaim more than 80 tons/hour between its two systems. This sand will then be recycled back into production lines and used again to make gray and ductile iron castings for captive and commercial customers. The reclamation equipment is scheduled to be commissioned by mid-2008.

Lufkin’s two molding lines are each capable of producing 40 tons/hour of either phenolic urethane or furan nobake bound sand.
