Simpson Technologies Corp., Aurora, Ill., will celebrate a century in business in 2012.
The company was founded as a sole proprietorship in 1912 by Peter L. Simpson, who developed the first practical muller-type mixing machine. The mixer became the primary product of Simpson Technologies.
The Simpson family and Simpson Technologies are involved in most American metalcasting organizations, with multiple family members serving on the boards of the industry’s major trade associations.
Simpson Technologies is a five-generation family business concentrated on the design and manufacture of technology and services for the metalcasting and chemical process industries. Its primary products include batch and continuous mixing equipment, molding sand coolers, on-line mixer controls, core sand preparation systems, shell sand preparation plants, sand reclamation systems, sand lab equipment, and foundry system design, engineering and automation systems. The company has operations in Aurora, Ill., Steinhausen, Switzerland, and Calcutta, India. Selected Simpson Technologies products are produced under license in Japan and Brazil.
