Bremen Castings, Ryobi Diecasting Awarded Recycling Grants |

Bremen Castings Inc., Bremen, Ind., and Ryobi Die Casting USA, Shelbyville, Ind., have received grant funding from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) for equipment to start or expand recycling in their operations.
The metalcasters were among seven companies to receive grants totaling $500,000. Bremen’s award was $100,000 and will be used to install additional melting furnaces as part of a $3.4 million project to expand the company’s current iron melting furnace operations. Bremen indicated in a press release the project will create 36 new jobs and the new system will recycle an additional 12,000 tons of steel each year.
Additional information on the grant received by Ryobi could not be obtained.
“IDEM is pleased to aid Indiana businesses in their efforts to establish and expand beneficial operations,” said IDEM Commissioner Thomas Easterly. “[The] funding contributes significantly to greater efficiency in manufacturing, the reduction of wastes, the sustainability of Indiana businesses and a thriving economy.”
Other companies receiving grants included Nature’s Wood LLC, Plastic Recycling Inc., Heritage - Crystal Clean LLC, Perpetual Recycling Solutions LLC and Treadstone LLC.
