Ball Brass & Aluminum Foundry Inc., Auburn, Ind., has acquired selected assets of Excelsior Brass Works, a subsidiary of Kief Industries, Blandon, Pa.
According to a company executive, Ball Brass purchased the customer list left in the wake of the closure of Excelsior earlier this year, in addition to some small pieces of equipment.
“We primarily wanted the book of business,” said Bob Evans, chairman of Ball Brass’s parent company Evans Industries. “We had capacity, so it was easy for us [to take over the customers]. They make castings very similar to the ones we make in Auburn.”
Ball Brass pours brass, bronze and aluminum castings on jolt-squeeze, rotolift and floor molding lines, serving customers primarily in the pumps and plumbing, industrial machinery, housing, and energy production and distribution markets. According to Evans, Excelsior had customers in a variety of end-use industries located across the Eastern U.S.
“We look forward to serving [Excelsior’s] customers,” Evans said. “We have a good track record at Ball, and I think this will be a nice addition to our business.”
The transaction, the terms of which were undisclosed, was initiated and assisted by The Folk Group, Doylestown, Pa.
