Grede Holdings LLC, Southfield, Mich., recently was given an award for its commitment to hiring U.S. military veterans.
The company was named a 2011 Hire a Veteran Month Business of the Year by Michigan Works! The Job Force Board. The award is open to companies statewide and is given to the company that best supports veterans. The award was presented at Grede’s Iron Mountain, Mich., facility on Nov. 29.
“It is an honor to receive this award and be recognized by our colleagues, friends and the local, state and national government for our ongoing support of veterans,” said Randy Priem, general manager at the Iron Mountain facility. “We are grateful to them for their strong commitment to our country, and we take pride in supporting and employing current and past members of the military.”
With estimated annual revenues approaching $1 billion, the ferrous casting group has 5,100 employees and operates 16 foundries and four machining operations that serve the transportation and industrial markets.
