A consortium of five European metalcasting equipment manufacturers has established a North American sales organization for their products and announced the consortium’s first U.S. order.

The new company, Finishing Technology International LLC, Atlanta, will specialize in supplies for casting cleaning, finishing and inspection. Founding members of the group include Blastman, a provider of robotic air blast casting cleaning equipment, Inspectomation, which supplies automated vision systems for mold, core and casting inspection, L. Janke, a provider of hydraulic press and robotic casting trimming and finishing products, Reichmann & Sohn, which sells mechanized casting grinding and cut-off machinery, and casting de-coring, de-gating and finishing technology company R. Scheuchl.

At the time of the formation of the new location, the consortium announced it had won a contract to deliver an inspection system for an automatic vertical molding line. The system, which will have the ability to check for mold defects and alert the operator for corrective action, is believed to be the first in North America.
