Three metalcasting industry suppliers came together to provide a sand mixer for the recently completed Virginia Tech Foundry Institute for Research and Education (VT FIRE).

Palmer Manufacturing & Supply Inc., Springfield, Ohio, Conbraco Industries, Matthews, N.C., and MetalTech Systems, Pawleys Island, S.C., teamed up to provide the system for the research center, which includes a metalcasting facility and was designed to train students and provide continuing education to industry members.

Virginia Tech officially recognized the industry suppliers during a dedication event.

“We were pleased to assist Virginia Tech in their efforts to prepare students for successful metalcasting careers, as well as research new technologies,” said Jack Palmer, president of Palmer Manufacturing.
