Wescast Wins New European Business Print E-mail

Wescast Industries Inc., Brantford, Ontario, Canada, announced that its European business unit, Wescast Hungary Zrt., Oroszlany, has been awarded several new programs from automakers in the region.

Beginning in 2007, Wescast will provide cast and machined exhaust manifolds for BMW, Audi and PSA Peugeot Citroen. The BMW manifolds are for the 1.6L I4 engine program (Mini Cooper) being built in the U.K.. Manifolds for the Audi 3.2L V6 engine program (Audi A4 and A6) will be shipped to Audi's Gyor, Hungary, engine plant, while the PSA Peugeot Citroen business is for the 1.4L I4 engine program at the Douvrin, France, engine plant.

"The customer relationships we have formed in Europe have allowed us to diversify our customer base and capture an increased share of the very competitive European market," said Ed Frackowiak, Wescast chairman and CEO.
