Buhler Industries Inc., Winnipeg, Ontario, Canada, sold subsidiary BMW MachineWorks Ltd. to a company controlled by Canadian Tool & Die Ltd., for an undisclosed amount.
According to a company press release, the move will focus Buhler’s assets on the manufacturing and marketing of farm equipment.
"Instead of allocating time and resources to producing components, we can focus our energy on building and distributing products,” said Dr. Ossama AbouZeid, president and CFO of Buhler Industries. "All employees will remain employed with BMW MachineWorks with no loss of benefits.”
Under the new ownership, BMW MachineWorks will continue to supply components to Buhler.
Buhler Industries designs, manufactures and distributes agricultural equipment out of seven manufacturing and nine distribution centers, totaling more than 1.6 million sq. ft. of facilities in the U.S. and Canada and employs more than 800 people.
The Canadian Tool & Die Group is a supplier to the North American agricultural and industrial manufacturing sectors, specializing in hubs, wheels, spindles, hydraulic cylinders and custom machining for both agricultural and industrial machinery manufacturers, as well as gray and ductile castings.
